There is plenty to do and see in and around Les Gets in the summer.
Outside Chalet Mahana, there is a south-facing balcony with a table, chairs and a BBQ, providing space for
eating outdoors or for simply admiring the views over the village and valley. The lawned garden has space
for children to play safely.
The village centre is a 15 minute walk downhill or a 3 minute drive by car or free bus (bus stop 200m).
Here is a flavour of summer at Chalet Mahana...
Enjoy Les Gets' fabulous lake, great for swimming, with its waterslide, pony club, sand volleyball and various
other activities. It is a great location for all the family to enjoy a day in the sun. The swimming lake
is a 15 minute walk from Chalet Mahana. Nearby Morzine has a superb 50m outdoor pool which is open in the
summer, children can have great fun in the children's pool. The pools are heated to 26 degrees and pool-side
refreshments are available.
Les Gets Adventure Park is great fun for all the family. Situated in the woods just behind the lake on the
Chavannes, the Adventure Park is a must for both old and young alike. The Park allows you to romp around
on the 86 games spread over 4 different circuits of ever-increasing difficulty, adapted for all over the
age of 8. Tarzan leaps, death slide, rope bridges, etc. The adventurers can rival adeptness and audacity
under the guiding eyes of instructors!
The Portes du Soleil is unrivalled in terms of mountain biking in the Alps. Les Gets has hosted many events;
most recently the World Mountain Bike Championships in 2004. The area caters for experienced riders seeking
new thrilling downhill trails and novices looking to gain experience and have fun! The ski lifts are adapted
in the summer to carry bikes so getting up hill is easy! The Portes du Soleil has 380km of marked trails
for different abilities and there are 24 lifts open from mid June to mid September. Les Gets is excellently
placed to access downhill and cross country trails, especially those of Mont Chery and the Chavannes. 2 gondola
lifts and 2 chairlifts are open in Les Gets making access to Morzine and beyond easy. You will find 'washing
zones' and 'tyre pumping stations' at the lifts for your convenience. We can recommend hire shops in Les
Gets for the rental of mountain bikes.
Come and enjoy some of the stunning mountain scenery that Morzine and Les Gets have to offer. You can access
high mountain areas by chairlift and then wander through lush alpine pastures or undertake more serious itineraries
through into Switzerland. Whatever your level of ability there are guided walks available. Enjoy the peace
and tranquillity of this unspoilt area with snow-capped peaks, lakes, flora and fauna and old villages.
Fly like a bird in the sky above Les Gets or Morzine and experience this exhilarating sport. You can do
a tandem flight for beginners or why not come and do a course.
Les Gets has an excellent 18 hole Par 70 Golf Course. The course provides panoramic views of Mont Blanc
and the surrounding area. Lessons are available throughout the season. There is also a 9 hole course in Morzine/Avoriaz
and other excellent courses nearby in Evian, Chamonix and Megeve.
The River Dranse that flows from Morzine down to Lake Geneva provides exhilarating water sports for all
ages. Try white water rafting, hot-dogging (an inflatable canoe for 2 people), hydrospeed (surf the rapids
on your own equipped with flippers, float and padded wetsuit!) or canyoning. You will be guaranteed a memorable
experience!
Les Gets is an excellent base from which to explore the surrounding area. Visit the beautiful lake at Montriond
or the goats at Les Lindarets. Visit the historic towns of Annecy and Yvoire and stunning Lake Geneva. Enjoy
a relaxed pace of life, changing landscapes, cultural treasures and rich heritage. Visit Chamonix and take
a trip up the famous Aiguille Du Midi lift for breathtaking views of Mont Blanc.
There are plenty of activities to keep your children occupied. As well as all of the activities mentioned
so far there is also a children's day nursery in Les Gets, 'Les Fripouilles' where qualified staff look after
children from 3 months to 6 years of age. This would give adults the opportunity to undertake some of the
many summer activities not suitable for little ones! Also in the village centre is a Merry-Go-Round, trampolining,
Pony club treks, rides on the 'Petit Train' and visits to local farms.
